Employment and Labor Law

We help clients with the myriad of issues involved in  relations between employers and their union-organized employees, including collective bargaining, labor arbitration, labor disputes, claims of unfair labor practices, and proceedings before the labor relations board.

Parrish Kruidenier handles a wide variety of employment law cases and help clients navigate through the myriad of issues they may experience.  These services include claims of:

Wrongful Termination. Wrongful termination occurs when an employee has been terminated for their employment for reasons that are unfair and or false.  Our attorneys will review your termination and advise you about any potential legal claims arising from your employment separation.

Sexual Harassment. Sexual harassment in the workplace is illegal and cannot be tolerated. Sexual harassment takes many forms, including unsolicited sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal (e.g., slurs, derogatory comments, or comments about a person’s body and appearance) or physical (e.g., assault, blocking movement, or bodily interference) conduct that is sexual in nature.

Discrimination. Discrimination based on your age, sex, race, color, national origin, pregnancy, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity is strictly prohibited in the work place.

Retaliation. Retaliation in the work place occurs when an employee reports misconduct and in turn faces an adverse employment action  including, but not limited to, termination, suspension or demotion.

Contract Disputes. We provide expertise and knowledge regarding contract claims and disputes, non-compete clauses and severance agreements.

Wage Collection and Overtime Disputes. Employers may refuse to pay wages an employee has earned for a variety of reasons and this may very well be against the law. You may deserve your full pay for hours worked and for commission, vacation pay and sick time earned.

Employee Handbook Issues.  We can provide insight and assistance in drafting a thorough and detailed employee handbook.

Labor Issues.  Our firm has over 30 years of experience representing labor unions and members from across the State of Iowa. We pride ourselves on our ability to build strong relationships and, together, improve labor relations throughout the State. The firm provides a multitude of services including, but not limited to: collective bargaining, grievances, labor arbitrations, mediations, contract negotiations, Iowa Public Employment Relations Board hearings, National Labor Relations Act violations and Fair Labor Standards Act violations.
